Trainview Farm, in the heart of the village of Ballygowan, Co Down has been farmed by the Orr family for over 400 years.
Traditionally a mixed farm of livestock and cereals until 2009 when Valerie Orr, freshly graduated from Greenmount College realised a gap in the market for locally grown, fresh flowers. That year our first polytunnel was put up and we have been steadily increasing our flower growing ever since.
Alongside this we have been establishing Christmas tree plantations around the farm which is a slow business taking on average 7-8 years to produce the finest quality tree to grace your home. In this time the trees are expertly pruned, shaped and cared for, not just simply stuck in the ground!
In 2016 Valerie handed over the reigns of the flower enterprise to her mother Rosemary after moving to Scotland set up life with her partner James. Valerie and James continue the farm name in Scotland in their pedigree cattle herd Trainview Livestock.
